November - Coosa Back Country
This outing was a Leave No Trace hiking outing. We left on Friday at about 6:30 and drove to West Wolf Creek Road north of Vogel State Park. It was dark when we got there, so we set up camp and got ready for bed.
We had another "Friday13th" moment. At the camp there was an empty camper/trailer. Eerie!
The next day, the older scouts left early and hiked to Calf Stomp Gap. The rest of us ate breakfast and packed up. We went did some LNT training and pumped water from Wolf Creek. The we left for Calf Stomp Gap. It was a long hike, but not that rigorous. Some parts were steep, but we got past them. When we got to the top, the older boys had set up a "model LNT campsite". They did more training on LNT while we rested.
We hiked down, and got to camp. The guy who lives in the trailer came back. He was really nice, but a little mysterious. Everyon was tired so we all hit the sack early. Sunday we had Vespers cleaned up to leave no trace and left. We got back to the hut about 1:00pm.
